July 15, 2013

As 4G network deployment is in its full swing in China and Taiwan, shipment volume of cross-strait network communications industry is expected to reach a climax during 2014 and 2015, according to Taiwan's Commercial Times on July 15. Taiwan will begin 4G network deployment in early 2014 after the license bidding concludes late this year. Meanwhile, China Mobile has earmarked 41.7 billion RMB (US$6.8 billion; US$1=6.1404 RMB) to deploy 4G networks while China Telecom will simultaneously develop TD-LTE (Time-Division Long-Term Evolution) and FDD-LTE (Frequency-Division Duplexing Long-Term Evolution) technologies. Aside from mobile antennae and broadband wireless access devices, small cells will play a key role in the market, with main Taiwanese vendors including Sercomm, Alpha Networks, Gemtek, Arcadyan, Unizyx Holding, Wistron NeWeb, and CyberTan joining the bandwagon.
